Construction Administration Projects
KEM provided construction contract administration and inspection services for the Bowman Street Bridge Reconstruction in the City of Mansfield. This $1,200,000 Local Let Project included replacement of the superstructure for a 5-span bridge over two railroads. The continuous composite steel beams were re-used and field painted as part of the project.
KEM provided construction administration and inspection services for 2.51 miles of resurfacing on Lexington Springmill Road from 4th St. to SR 39 in Richland County. This $1,500,000 Local Let project included the rehabilitation of four and five lane concrete pavement with a two-course asphalt overlay. The project also included construction of sidewalks and curb ramps through the commercial areas.
KEM provided engineering design, construction administration and project inspection services for the 1.5-mile reconstruction of Harrington Memorial Road, leading to the Mansfield-Lahm Airport. This $2,000,000 local project included funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission, the Ohio Air National Guard, and the City of Mansfield.
KEM provided construction contract administration and inspection services for 5.2 miles of four lane divided roadway around the east side of Elyria. This $18,000,000 Local Let Project was administered under full Federal Highway Administration and ODOT oversight. Said project included pavement rehabilitation, reconstruction of seven signalized intersections, new highway lighting, drainage improvements, major structure work and extensive landscaping. The pavement work was originally planned to be constructed in three phases over a two year period. KEM expedited the schedule to have a majority of the work completed in the first year of construction, thereby providing a smoother roadway for the public and reducing lane restrictions in year two.
KEM provided construction contract administration and inspection services for construction of a new roadway for expansion of the Industrial Park adjacent to Mansfield Lahm Airport. This $1,100,000 Local Let Project was administered under full Federal Highway Administration and ODOT oversight. The project included construction of a new asphalt pavement with curb and gutter, extensive drainage and a culvert replacement.
KEM was selected to perform construction management on Oberlin Ave in Lorain, Ohio by the Lorain County Engineer's Office. Oberlin Ave., a 4 to 5 lane concrete road, had last seen major construction in the 1970's. Smith Paving and Excavating of Norwalk, Ohio began construction on the $2.2 million project in May of 2012. The project consisted of rehabilitating 1.74 miles of Oberlin Ave through concrete joint repairs and overlaying the concrete base with asphalt, as well as 630 ft of full depth concrete pavement replacement at the Cooper Foster Park Rd intersection. Other improvements included replacement of drainage structures, new striping and signage, and curb ramp replacement.
KEM worked with the Smith Paving and Excavating as well as the engineering departments of Lorain County and the City of Lorain to complete this project prior to the November 16, 2012 completion date. Many positive comments have been received from residents as the project resulted in a major improvement on a main roadway in the City of Lorain.
KEM provided construction management and inspection services for the reconstruction of 0.60 miles of Ferndale Avenue in Sheffield Lake. This $2,160,000 Local Let Project included complete replacement of pavement, new drainage system, waterline relocation, curb and gutter and sidewalks.
