Plymouth Water Tank Repaint

Plymouth Water Tank Repaint

Client: Village of Plymouth
Location: Plymouth, Ohio

Description:
KEM completed design for the existing Riggs Street elevated water storage tank repaint project. The existing structure is a 250,000-gallon pedestal spheroid water tank originally constructed in 1964. The tank has had several overcoats and spot repairs over the years, but has not been stripped down to bare metal and repainted. Hence, the original primer is intact and testing indicated that it contains lead. The project includes the preparation of existing tank surfaces (blasting removal of existing paint down to bare metal, SSPC SP-10), and application of new protective coating systems. The contractor is required to install containment measures during water and sand blasting operations to prevent the escape of blasting and paint materials. All stripping and sand blasting wastes shall be collected, tested, and disposed of in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
