Description:
KEM completed design services for this project under the ODOT Local Let process. The Lorain County Engineer was the sponsor agency for the 2.86-mile of roadway widening in the Village of Sheffield. This $5,000,000 project included widening the roadway to three lanes, improvements to the storm sewer system, three signalized intersections and the construction of approximately one mile of bike trail as an extension of the Lorain County Metro Parks system. KEM's services included preliminary engineering, field survey, final design, environmental document preparation, right of way plans and right of way acquisition.

The project required an environmental site assessment and wetland mitigation to meet Army Corps of Engineer's requirements. The project also included an at-grade railroad crossing with extensive coordination with the railroad to accommodate the roadway widening. KEM provided right of way acquisition services for approximately 30 parcels of property impacted by the construction.
