KEM was hired to conduct an evaluation of the existing Butler WWTP and produce a Preliminary Engineering Report to maintain compliance with “Findings & Orders” issued by the Ohio EPA. KEM immediately took an out-of-the-box approach and looked at regional solutions to improve the Clear Fork Valley ecosystem. To accomplish this, KEM spearheaded communication with five systems that outlet into the Clear Fork River, with the hopes of replacing them with one state-of-the-art treatment facility. KEM designed and constructed the new Regional Continuous Flow Sequence Batch Reactor (SBR) WWTP for the Village, which is the first of its kind in the state of Ohio. KEM also assisted the Village of Butler with funding coordination and was able to obtain over $5 million in grants to make it not only the best environmental solution, but also the most cost effective.
