Winter 2024 – KEM Employee Spotlight
KEM Employee Spotlight – Kenny “Buster” McCartney
This winter quarter employee spotlight goes to Kenny “Buster” McCartney. He has filled many shoes here, from starting as a surveyor and project inspector, to now being a project engineer. Buster started at KEM in 2015 as an intern while he was attending the Ohio State University and hired on full time after graduation. When asked what motivates him to wake up and go to work, he responded, “Having amazing co-workers and doing my part to better our communities.” His favorite project that he has worked on so far is the Northwest Trunk Sewer in Lorain County, due to this being the first project that he took lead design on. Buster said that working through this project really helped him grow as both an engineer and surveyor. Buster said that his favorite thing about working at KEM is the people he works with, “Everybody gets things done but keeps the mood light-hearted,” he stated. Most people wouldn’t know that he loves to cook in his free time. Outside of work, Buster enjoys snowboarding, golfing, and hanging out by any body of water. Buster is a very determined, hard worker with a bright future carrying on the family legacy at KEM. We love having Buster on our team; it wouldn’t be the same without him!
