This summer I had the incredible opportunity to intern for K.E. McCartney & Assoc, Inc as a Seasonal Project Inspector.
I was primarily at a bridge replacement project in Mansfield, Ohio where I was responsible for ensuring that the project was being constructed as expected. Additionally, I surveyed a few locations across Mansfield for completed projects as well as in preparation for upcoming projects.
Throughout my internship, I continuously communicated with my team members and those on the job site. Maintaining effective communication between all parties involved was imperative to ensure the success of the project. While on the job site, I developed an understanding for basic construction techniques and principles. From performing a hydro excavation to observing construction workers demonstrate several operations, I learned more and more about construction each day.
My key takeaway from this internship is the importance of fully understanding the project plans and goals. I want to thank Brian McCartney, Cody Gerhardt, and Jason Burgholder, P.E. for such an enriching experience. I can’t wait to apply the knowledge I have gained from this internship toward my education.
