Summer 2024 – Employee Spotlight
Employee Spotlight – David Gooch
This summer quarter employee spotlight goes out to David Gooch! David is a Senior Project Engineer at KEM, meaning his days are spent both in the office and on the jobsite. From preconstruction plan evaluation to project finalization, he strives to ensure that work is performed safely and the contractor adheres to plan specifications, budgets, and completion schedules.
David began working at KEM as an engineering intern in 2013, becoming a professional engineer in 2018. When asked how working here has impacted his life, David said, “KEM continues to provide an opportunity for me to grow as an engineer and tackle a wide range of construction projects.”
David has been a lover of construction since childhood, making it easy to be motivated for work every day. He stated, “I’ve always liked to take things apart, figure how to fix or repurpose them, and put them back together. Today, I get to do that on a much larger scale!”
The new bridge construction over Norfolk Southern railroad on Highbridge Rd in Vermilion, Ohio has been one of David’s favorite projects to work on. He said, “the project included many other components besides the structure, and the contractor was a pleasure to work with.”
David said that his favorite thing about work is the people, collaborating with them to find solutions, and the nature of the work that KEM performs.
You may not know that David has an impressive and growing collection of over 45 houseplants, the oldest being almost 24 years old. David and his wife, Barbara, also recently found out they will be grandparents soon – congratulations to the Gooch family!
We appreciate everything David does; he is an important part of our team, and we are lucky to have him.
