Main Street Improvement Project Close to Completion

From the Main Street Matters – September 1, 2026 – a newsletter from the Mansfield Main Street Improvement Project

Another week of progress in the Main Street Improvement Project- are you wondering what’s going on? You have come to the right place!

We would like to thank you all for your patience, flexibility, and continued support throughout this process. We truly appreciate your understanding and willingness to work with us as we bring everything together as we continue this project and approach the finish line. We’re so excited to see the final result and can’t wait for the work when it is all done!

Looking Back: Progress Over the Last Two Weeks

There’s been a lot happening throughout the Main Street Improvement Project! Over the past two weeks, crews have:

  • Continued concrete and sidewalk work along Park Avenue, Main Street, First Street, and Diamond Street.
  • Poured the large concrete base for the new brick paver area on Park Avenue.
  • Began installing the stone steps near the fountain area on Park Avenue.
  • Started forming the new circular concrete planter near the fountain.
  • Completed additional paving and road-base work near First Street.
  • Continued grading and preparation for new curbs and sidewalks.
  • Continued electrical wiring and infrastructure work throughout the project area.

With more of the major concrete work taking shape, we’re starting to see many of the streetscape details come together!

Looking Ahead:

Here’s what to expect over the next two weeks:

  • Park Avenue and southbound Main Street are now open to traffic. Temporary closures will still be needed from time to time as work continues, and we’ll share those updates as they happen.
  • Crews will continue work on the plaza areas, including pouring walls and the fountain.
  • Stone veneer installation will begin in the plazas.
  • Road work will continue near First Street and Newlon Place.
  • Crews will complete additional drainage work near Walnut Street.
  • Electrical crews will continue traffic signal and camera work throughout the project.
  • Installation of new signage will continue.
