Winter 2025 – Project Spotlight

Village of Fredericktown Downtown Streetscape

KEM provided Civil Engineering & Surveying Services to the Village of Fredericktown for their Downtown Streetscape project. The project was approximately 1,000 feet in length and concluded the first 2 phases of the Villages downtown revitalization plan along Main Street (SR 95). Improvements started at Sandusky Street in the center of town and extended north to Mill Street. Enhancements include widened sidewalks, new curbs, and curb ramps improved to be ADA compliant. To accommodate the widened sidewalk, the existing angled on-street parking was reconfigured to parallel parking and the pavement section narrowed. New decorative lighting was installed with festival outlets attached to the light poles and at the base of each newly installed tree. A total of 33 new trees were planted along this downtown section to enhance the overall aesthetics and create a more park-like experience through downtown. The three existing signals on the project were removed and replaced with an all-way stop condition. Decorative tree grates, brick walk borders, and decorative signing were installed as additional aesthetic enhancements for the streetscape. Construction of the improvements was awarded to Smith Paving for $1.6 million and was completed in time for the 2024 Fredericktown Tomato Festival.
